The essential oil of the sweet orange flower is obtained from the steam distillation of the flowers. As the steam condenses the essential oil rises to the surface, leaving the condensed steam (orange flower water) underneath. It has a delightful, sweet scent, and can be used in the same way as rosewater. Its main use in skin care is as a tonic or aromatic wash due to its gently astringent properties.
