How to treat Stressed Skin

With so many products and techniques out there, a simple skincare routine can suddenly seem very confusing and can cause our skin to become stressed. As with many things in life, there’s a lot to be said for focusing on the fundamentals and not over complicating matters.

Putting together five simple steps, we want to help you concentrate on the basics and confidently achieve that healthy, beautiful looking complexion you’ve been craving with a routine that suits you and helps your stressed skin heal.

1. Cleanse

By cleansing your skin you’re effectively priming it for whatever you apply next – ensuring the benefits of each product are taken advantage of.

For this, starting with your chosen cleanser, apply a large grape sized amount onto the face. Using circular motions across the forehead, cheeks, jawline, neck and décolleté, take time to massage into your skin until all visible signs of make-up are gone. Remove with damp cotton wool pads, or rinse with cool water.

To boost your cleanse, introduce a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to help drain toxins and invigorate the skin.

2. Tone

Refreshing, clarifying and brightening, often overlooked, a toner really makes a difference to how your complexion looks and feels.

To tone, apply a few drops of your chosen toner to dry cotton pads and sweep across your face, neck and décolleté. This process will ensure any last traces of your cleanser, make-up or oil are removed, leaving your skin perfectly prepped for further product.

3. Eyes

The most delicate yet most neglected area of the face, the skin around the eyes requires careful attention. An instant giveaway when tired or under the weather, they’re also the spot most susceptible to the first signs of ageing.

To improve the appearance of dark circles, fine lines or puffy eyes, using your ring finger gently tap a grain of rice sized amount of eye cream outwards along the contour of the eye just above the cheekbone down towards your ear.

Repeat the process 2 – 3 times before taking the excess to the brow bone and repeating the process. Do this on each eye until fully absorbed and never place directly under the eyelashes.

4. Treat

Serums and Face Treatment Oils are the most effective way to quickly achieve the results you crave.
Oil free, serums feed the skin with nourishing plant and marine actives and are quickly absorbed, penetrating deeper than a moisturiser – brightening, firming, smoothing or revitalising the complexion.

Our oils are 100% natural plant and essential oil blends. Containing no water, they’re formulated to be compatible with lipids in the skin in order to work deeply, helping to strengthen the skin over time.

Whether you opt for a serum or oil, it’s best to use alongside your usual moisturiser by warming a few drops or pumps in your hands, roughly the size of a blueberry. Press onto the forehead, cheeks and chin until absorbed.

5. Moisturise

Ensuring you receive the right level of hydration and nutrients, while also working as a protective outer layer, moisturisers lock in the benefits of your serum or facial oil.

To apply one, after cleansing, toning and treating your skin, apply an almond sized amount onto your fingertips and lightly tap into your face, neck and décolleté, before smoothing in gentle upward strokes over the cheeks, forehead, neck and décolleté.
